Phonics Buddies provides fun interactive sessions in nurseries, developing the skills needed for pre-schoolers to acquire early literacy skills.

Sessions are delivered by a Specialist Literacy Teacher.

Nursery staff will have a clear understanding of the skills children are developing each week and will be able to reinforce these skills throughout the week

Our face-to-face sessions are fun, interactive and packed with opportunities to learn through play and exploration. Phonics Buddies supports children in meeting early literacy, language and communication milestones as well as supporting ‘school readiness’ for pre-schoolers. Nurseries are given the tools to support children's literacy development from a Specialist Literacy Teacher, Antoinette Lindesay, who is also the founder of Literacy and Dyslexia Support (LDS), Local Authority teacher and Consultant.

Each 30 - 40 -minute session is themed around a sound of the week with focus on sound and letter recognition and formation. Each week children will engage with activities to develop phonological awareness to support reading and spelling, as well as fine motor skill development, to support handwriting. Storytelling, rhyming activities and other activities to support oral language development will also be integrated into sessions.

The range of activities provided, offers pre-school age children a variety of learning opportunities to promote the development of early literacy and language skills.
